Walnut Street Facility Renovation

This project consists of the renovation of a former NC National Guard armory (18,000 SF) to house the Boys & Girls Club of the Tar River Region’s program spaces & activities. Those include a gymnasium, virtual reality room, music studio & gaming room, classrooms, multipurpose room (Chill Zone, Makerspace/tinkering lab, computer lab), conference room, 40-person dining/workforce readiness room, admin offices, restrooms, & central check-in area. The site includes a baseball field, upgraded security & aesthetics, shop/farmers’ market, greenhouse, new entrance, & bus loop. Facility improvements include commercial kitchen upgrades, roofing & rooftop terrace, entrances, & other exterior enhancements. Currently under design as a design-build project with Barnhill Contracting Company.
