Vance County DSS Relocation
Vance County, NC
Civic + Municipal
Oakley Collier Architects conducted a facilities conditions assessment and feasibility study of existing Vance County buildings and several other locations to evaluate the potential relocation of County services and departments.
The study included a review and analysis of programmatic layouts, building conditions, and basic infrastructure needs, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems. Diagrammatic plans identified existing space allocations and provided recommendations for future space needs, along with associated project budget costs for each recommendation.
The resulting 37,545 SF Department of Social Services facility includes a large lobby with reception and waiting areas, as well as spaces for Child Support, Food and Nutrition Services, Medicaid Application Intake, Recertifications, Child and Adult Services, Support Services, and administrative offices. The facility also includes a 21,394 SF Senior Center with a separate entrance and interior access to the main building. Space was incorporated to accommodate future expansion.
