Southern Nash Middle School Replacement
Nash County Public Schools
PreK-12 Education
The new 112,000 SF Southern Nash Middle School will serve approximately 1,100 students, replacing the existing school with a new facility on a new site. The design utilizes a pre-engineered structural system and metal roofing, similar to OCA’s design for Red Oak Elementary School. Due to the size constraints of the site, careful consideration is being given to building placement, access, and vehicular circulation.
The school will feature three grade-level classroom wings, a gymnasium with bleachers and locker rooms, an auxiliary gym, two PE classrooms, four CTE classrooms, four resource rooms, an administration suite, media center, STEAM room, Spanish classroom, vocal room, and music room. A full-service cafeteria will include a commercial kitchen, serving lines, dining area, dry storage, laundry, walk-in cooler and freezer, dishwashing, and trash areas.
Site amenities will include two outdoor learning areas with amphitheater-style spaces, an outdoor agricultural education area, public and staff parking, a dedicated student pickup line, and a separate bus drop-off area. This project is currently under construction.
