Smith Rocky Mount Community Center

Renovations to the Smith Rocky Mount Community Center included transforming existing space into a new commercial kitchen, adding a 200-seat community room with an associated outdoor patio, and creating a more welcoming entry and sense of arrival.

Interior improvements included air conditioning the double-court gymnasium, expanding wellness and weight-training areas, and creating additional program spaces for after-school mentoring, computer labs, and an internet café. Public input meetings were conducted throughout the planning process to help ensure the renovated facility met the needs of its users.

Exterior improvements included a new community garden, expanded splash park, children’s playground, picnic shelters, and benches. Improvements throughout the 27.5-acre park also included roadway realignment to improve parking and site circulation.
