The Roanoke Electric Cooperative's new headquarters facility consists of a 19,700 square foot office area; a 19,000 square foot warehouse; 1,400 square foot wash pit; and a 3,800 square foot shop. The facility is located in the geographic center of the service area, which is important to a company which prides itself on superior service. Seeking a new look that reflects the progressive growth of the company, the entry features a barrel vaulted roof supported by a steel structure, that evokes the language seen in electric substations. Borrowed light strategies employed within the building showcases how energy savings can be built into the daily function of a building. It is currently undergoing LEED® Certification. Construction Cost: $6,500,000.
