The Dare County DHHS Addition connects the existing 19,468 SF Health Services building and 21,726 SF Social Services building to create a unified facility with a common intake area and additional program space. Oakley Collier Architects previously completed a feasibility study for the project, which included evaluating renovations to existing lobby areas, building systems, and functional spaces.
The new 8,500 SF addition brings the combined facility to 49,694 SF. The two-story Social Services Department includes private offices, a large break room, three open office areas with cubicles, conference and training rooms, visitation rooms, restrooms, and storage.
The two-story Health Services Department includes private offices, doctors’ offices, nurses’ offices and stations, a laboratory, phlebotomy room, classrooms, pharmacy, immunization clinic, conference rooms, break room, two open office areas, restrooms, and storage.
The new addition provides triage rooms, a large training room, lobby with waiting and reception areas, offices, and restrooms.
