Oakley Collier Architects provided a written analysis of Dare County Schools’ Early College program requirements, existing facility conditions, and capital improvement needs. The study evaluated both renovation and expansion of the existing facility and demolition and construction of a new facility on the same site.
OCA developed five-year projected space needs for a full Early College program serving 350 students and provided estimates of probable costs associated with the proposed improvements. Based on the study, demolition of the existing building and construction of a new facility was recommended. OCA was subsequently selected in early 2024 to provide full architectural services through construction.
Located on College of The Albemarle’s Manteo campus, the new two-story, 28,715 SF facility will include 13 classrooms, a laboratory with prep room, media center, guidance offices, kitchen and café, administrative suite, and storage.
The project is currently under design.
