Carl H. Russell Community Center

The Carl H. Russell Community Center opened in 1987 and was North Carolina’s first community center with gigabit internet access. Over time, increased demand for quality rental space and deferred maintenance created the need for several facility upgrades and repairs.

Renovations to the 12,459 SF facility include new pedestrian seating, fresh paint, updated interior lighting, exterior lighting improvements, enhanced accessibility and security, and landscaping improvements throughout the site. If funding allows, additional renovations may include a new game room and improvements to the gymnasium.
